18 Jun Surround Yourself With Like-Minded People
As the saying goes “you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with,” so yes people do have a huge impact on your life. This shows us that people tend to hang around others that are just like them. Who are you spending the most time with?
Some people can be energy wasters. They just suck all the happiness, energy and resources right out of you! If you hang around people like this, you will start becoming them.
So who are the good people we want to spend time with? And what are the benefits of surrounding ourselves with these people? These people have positive traits, that are happy people and contribute to your life’s work. They will help inspire you to be a better person, provide you with motivation and empower you.
The good people in a business or work environment are usually the ones that tend to be the most productive. They’re organised, stick to schedules and don’t get easily distracted. These are the people who are great to be around to help keep you on track and focused.
It’s also good to have a diverse range of people to surround yourself with, as too much of the same thing can limit growth. You want different qualities in varying fields to enable you to soak up as much knowledge as possible.
Here’s how you can surround yourself with like-minded people:
Analyse your Gang
We tend to lean on our friends a lot, but friends also come and go. It’s important to know which of these people are the ones who support and challenge us.
Do an analysis of your friends and see whether they add to your life or are taking away from it. You want to be around those that are going to help you reach goals and contribute to your purpose.
If you want to be successful in business, surround yourself with people who are successful. If you hang out with those you have failed in business or tried and thrown it all in, you’re never going to improve your skills in that area.
Eliminate the Negativity
There seems to be so much negativity in the world. It surrounds us every day in the media, co-workers, friends, family and on the street.
There are people in our lives that just thrive off drama and want to share their negativity to everyone who will listen! Don’t be part of this, get away from it… run! This will impact our own lives and our own mental health. It’s also your choice who NOT to surround yourself with.
Relationships are hard work and you need to dedicate time to them. If you need to schedule the time to stay in touch with your people then put it on the calendar. There will be times when we have to make hard decisions about what to filter out in order to dedicate time to our gang but it’s important to interact with the people who mean the most to us.
You will soon begin to notice that by surrounding yourself with like-minded people, it will start to affect your chances of success and help boost your self-control and confidence. Who are your group of five that you’re spending the most time with?
